Review of Love and Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs

I began reading this book and was immediately caught by how the author and his wife's anecdotes sounded so similar to the relationship I share with my husband of 12 years.

This book teaches the reader about the "Crazy Cycle: without love she reacts--without respect he reacts." It promises healing in the marriage, an end to loneliness in marriage, peace and a feeling of being understood, a marriage God intended and more. How can this be? Well, it's not with a "magic bullet" it's with the application and committment of specific ideas for a set amount of time. These are real ways you can change the day to day interaction between you and your spouse.

You will be glad you read it and happier that you implemented it in your marriage and relationships!

In preparation

Everything worth doing is worth doing well, right?
Shouldn't that include preparation of said project? Definitely.
As a student in elementary school we are taught how to outline a story or report. We are taught how to do a rough draft. Its a rewarding experience to look back on that outline and see how it turned into the final draft?

It's preparation time for Mars Hill Revisited. During a couple week break of concerts and practices, lead singer and song writer, Will Clark is laying down some tracks for the other members of the band to take home and practice to. Bassist and vocalist, Mike Clark, will be working on some great new bass lines while lead guitarist Marc Putnam, Jr works his magic on some lead parts and fill-in. Drummer, Daniel Martinez, will no doubt add his love for hip-hop into the new rock beats that will be concocted.

The band looks forward to October when they go back into the studio to record a "radio-worthy" EP.
The preparation is huge for the band. They must go into the studio ready to go, like they've been playing these songs in their dreams. With hopeful expectation, MHR prepares!

Shouldn't it be Easy?

You want something?
You have the means to get it!
It's nowhere to be found!

You've called every store withing a 500 mile radius trying to find it.
They all give you the same story; "We don't have it. We should be getting it soon. We don't have an estimated ship date"

Just venting some frustrations about what Mac Powell calls the Law of "Awww Man"

So, you're wondering what I'm so desperate to spend my money on, aren't you? Okay, I'll tell you... Gibson Les Paul Jr. Billy Joe Armstrong Edition in Sunburst. The Ebony ones are everywhere, the Whites are nowhere and the Sunburst are backordered.

Ideas anyone?

When will the dream come true?

Last year MHR was selected to be part of the Joshua Fest music festival in Quincy, California. Due to the economic downfall, it was unfortunately canceled.
Joshua Fest is small when compared to other Christian Music Festivals, ie. Creation Fest, Spirit West Coast but it's a great event in a remote area of California.

Fast forward to 2009 and JFest is excited to bring back some amazing acts to Quincy and we began making thoughts and preparations. Surely we would still be invited, right? Wrong. They did however invite us to play an "almost acoustic" spot between the main stage act times. Crazy and we had to decline the event!

We have been busy, last year, playing over 40 shows in addition to 2x weekly practices and full time jobs, families, the change of a drummer, etc. We're grateful for the opportunities that were given to us, but we want MORE!

What we really need is an AMAZING demo. That's what the immediate goal is.
We keep having some crazy things happen around us and it causes questioning. Should we still be doing this? Are we doing enough? What should be different.

Only God knows, but we will press on until there's a definite answer or call, to give it up.
Until then, you can find us on Saturday the 15th of August in Ceres, California at 11:am for a church fundraiser playing along side Radio Friendly. Great guys!

Come out and join us...you won't be disappointed!
